Eloping at Piermont Retreat - Kaitlyn & Russell
September on Tasmania’s east coast can be cold and windy. It can also be beautiful: clear light on old stone, green grass beneath the cypress trees, and space to make a wedding feel entirely your own. For Kaitlyn and Russell, Piermont Retreat was the setting for a day they had kept a surprise from everyone at home.
There was something lovely about holding that news just between them. While life carried on elsewhere, they were getting ready together in a seaside stone cottage, about to become married.
Getting ready together at Piermont
The photographs by Omar of By The Wilde begin inside the cottage. Russell’s jacket hangs against a timber wardrobe. Kaitlyn straightens his tie; he helps fasten her dress. They laugh together beside the fireplace before stepping out into the sunshine.
Ben O’Brien styled Kaitlyn’s hair, with makeup by Liv Rodgers. Her short, long-sleeved dress and veil were paired with cream and deep burgundy flowers by The Romantics. Against Piermont’s warm stone walls and dark green trees, those colours felt beautifully at home.
Britt Withers planned the day through The Elopement Collective, bringing the team and setting together so Kaitlyn and Russell could enjoy being there.
Personal vows beneath the cypress trees
They walked hand in hand to Piermont’s amphitheatre, where curved stone terraces step down to the grass. Tall cypress trees frame the space, giving an outdoor ceremony a feeling of its own little room.
Josh Withers led their ceremony. From their first meeting, his humour, passion and kindness had made Kaitlyn and Russell feel at ease. There were personal vows, a tissue lifted to Kaitlyn’s face, rings exchanged and a kiss beneath the trees. Omar’s photographs hold the small moments as carefully as the wide views: hands joined, a vow booklet, the way they looked at each other.
Afterwards, they sat laughing on the stone steps and wandered through the gardens as the light softened. A little white heart-shaped cake waited beside the flowers. It was a beautiful September elopement, with a very good surprise still to share.
Looking back, Kaitlyn and Russell said they left feeling thankful for the people around them. That feeling is at the heart of what Britt brings together: a small team who care about the experience as much as the photographs and the ceremony. As they put it in their review:
“Josh and the team at the Elopement collective were outstanding and they completely exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you for making our wedding even more special than we ever hoped for”
Laura from Heart & Soul Content captured their day on video too. Watch her film alongside the story, then explore the photographs below.
