tasmania’s elopement collective

The Elopement Collective is our squad of wedding industry leaders that create epic elopements from Australia around the world. Led by us, the husband and wife team of Josh and Britt, and originally known as
The Pop-Up Wedding Co, we are passionate about celebrating marriage in a personal and real way.

We’re proud Tasmanian locals and we’re excited to create an unforgettable elopement for you in our home state.

elopement

We simply create elopements, not weddings.

We create intimate moments for you and your partner to become a married couple and you can get married with a handful of your closest family or we can be your witnesses.

collective

We work with the best celebrants, photographers, videographers, and florists in Tasmania.
Many talented humans with a single vision for your elopement.

The EC experience

We believe in and deeply honour the power and the beauty of marriage. We believe that your marriage is a union to be celebrated, and celebrated in the most intimate and personal fashion. In Hobart, Cradle Mountain, Launceston, or anywhere in the world.

Elopements are best in the few hours before sunset, generally on weekdays or outside of the peak wedding times. In Tasmania that means late summers and early winters.

We help you in finding the right location, looking after your marriage paperwork, creating a fun and meaningful marriage ceremony with a celebrant, curating a photographer, maybe a videographer, and your blooms.

What’s the difference?

wedding

A wedding is a beautiful celebration of love and commitment between two people but those two people are hosting an event for their friends and family.

It’s about you, but not necessarily for you.

micro-wedding

A micro-wedding, and you’re not going to believe this, is a smaller wedding.

There’s an emphasis on intimacy but you’re still hosting an event - a wedding - for the guests invited.

elopement

An elopement is an intimate and delicate moment where two people get married, and there may be the smallest number of witnesses, but it’s not for them.

An elopement is for you.

Costs

Prices start from $9,500. Your quote covers your chosen elopement package and any optional extras, but this is a helpful guide to other expenses you might want to budget for.

difference between a wedding and an elopement?

Sometimes people are like Cinderella’s sisters, trying to shove a wedding into an elopement, or an elopement into a wedding. Here’s our guide on the difference between the two.

Can we bring our children?

Eloping with your kids on the Apple Isle transforms your wedding day into an intimate family experience. While it requires thoughtful planning, the result is a beautiful celebration you'll all treasure. Here's how to create a memorable family elopement.

What should we do after?

Tasmania elopement FAQs

How much does it cost to elope in Tasmania?

From $9,500 for a Signature-style elopement and from $16,500 for an Extraordinary elopement — both including GST and both including professional photography. Extras like videography and a content creator can be added on. Every elopement is quoted individually, but those from-prices are real numbers, not a "contact us to find out".

What's included in an Elopement Collective elopement?

Planning by Britt, your celebrant (usually Josh), professional photography, and a ceremony created from scratch around the two of you — no templates. Flowers, videography, content creation and the rest can be added to shape the day you want.

Is eloping in Tasmania legal?

Yes — as long as the legal bits are done right. You'll need to lodge a signed Notice of Intended Marriage with your celebrant at least one month before the day, and two witnesses over 18. We handle the paperwork with you; it's simpler than most couples expect.

How far in advance should we book?

As far out as you like, but we've planned elopements in a matter of weeks. If you have a specific date or season in mind — especially for places like Pumphouse Point or Wineglass Bay — six to twelve months gives you the pick of dates and vendors.

What's the difference between an elopement and a small wedding?

An elopement is just the two of you (plus whoever you actually want there) — the day is shaped around the couple, not the guest list. A small wedding still runs like a wedding, just with fewer people. We do both, but elopements are our home ground.

Can we bring guests?

Of course. Most of our elopements are just the couple, but plenty include a handful of favourite people — parents, best friends, the dog. Tell us who matters and we'll shape the day around them.

What's the best time of year to elope in Tasmania?

Tasmania is beautiful year-round, and each season gives you a different elopement. Summer brings long evenings and warm light; autumn brings colour; winter brings moody skies, snow on the highlands and empty locations; spring brings wildflowers. There's no bad choice — only different ones.

Do you only elope in Tasmania?

No — Tasmania is home, but we elope all over Australia and run European elopements in Italy and Greece each year. If you've got a place in mind, ask us.
