Tasmania, celebrated for its untouched wilderness and breathtaking landscapes, is an enchanting destination for couples seeking a unique and intimate elopement experience. This island state, located south of the Australian mainland, offers a variety of stunning locations that cater to diverse tastes and preferences. From the historic charm of Hobart to the pristine beauty of Freycinet National Park, Tasmania provides the perfect backdrop for a memorable elopement.

Hobart, the capital city, blends historic and modern charm with popular elopement spots like Salamanca Place, the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, and the panoramic views from Mount Wellington. For nature lovers, Freycinet National Park’s Wineglass Bay offers pristine beaches and dramatic pink granite peaks, ensuring an intimate ceremony amidst awe-inspiring scenery. Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, with its alpine landscapes and ancient rainforests, provides a rugged and romantic setting, while the Bay of Fires’ white sandy beaches and orange-hued granite rocks create a unique coastal elopement backdrop.

Another exquisite location is Piermont Retreat, situated on the east coast near Swansea. This luxury retreat offers breathtaking views of Great Oyster Bay and the Freycinet Peninsula. With its charming stone cottages, private beach, and tranquil atmosphere, Piermont Retreat is perfect for a secluded and romantic elopement.

Bruny Island, accessible by ferry from Hobart, offers a mix of rugged coastlines, lush forests, and charming farmlands, ideal for a tranquil and remote elopement. Richmond, known for its well-preserved Georgian architecture and the iconic Richmond Bridge, provides a touch of historic charm with its picturesque countryside and serene Coal River.

Tasmania’s climate features distinct seasons, each offering a unique backdrop for an elopement. Summer (December to February) is the warmest and most popular time, with mild weather ideal for outdoor ceremonies. Autumn (March to May) brings cooler temperatures and vibrant foliage, while winter (June to August) offers a cosy and intimate atmosphere, especially in locations like Cradle Mountain with snow-capped peaks. Spring (September to November) is perfect for garden and outdoor elopements with mild temperatures and blooming flowers.

Accessible by air and sea, Tasmania’s primary gateway is Hobart International Airport, with regular flights from major Australian cities. Launceston Airport and the Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Geelong to Devonport provide alternative routes. Once in Tasmania, a well-maintained network of roads and car rentals offer the flexibility to explore the island at your own pace. With its diverse landscapes, distinct seasons, and accessibility, Tasmania is an exceptional elopement destination, offering beautiful and unique locations for a truly memorable celebration.

Tasmania offers mountain ceremonies, quiet lakes, coastal scenery and wilderness stays for a small celebration. Explore Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair, or make your elopement part of a longer journey around the island.

The seasons give you different experiences: longer summer days, autumn colour, spring growth and winter retreats with the possibility of snow in the highlands. Your choice of setting and accommodation helps shape a comfortable day in any season.

Elopement packages from $9,500

For couples who would like more support bringing their elopement together. We offer a few different packages and can customise an option for you, so you can explore the level of planning and the combination of services that suit the day you have in mind.

These are starting prices. Your plans and the services you choose will shape your quote. When comparing options, it helps to be clear about what is included and what you will arrange separately, including photography, accommodation, travel and any venue costs.

You do not need to have every detail decided before getting in touch. Share your preferred time of year, any Tasmanian locations you love, whether you plan to invite guests, a rough budget and what matters most to you. We can talk you through the options and help you find a starting point for an elopement that feels like yours.
